正值母校同济118周年校庆及纽约校友会成立25周年之际,同济基金会(Tongji Foundation - TJF)于5月11日周日在当年首次聚会的 Liberty State Park 举办了同济校友烧烤聚会,并颁发了2025年度TJF Alumni & Scholarship Awards。纽约地区50多位校友及家属从宾州、康州、长岛等地驱车相聚,共叙同济情谊,欢心渡过了一个难忘的下午。

Emerging Leader Alumni Award
Dr. Kun Xie 谢琨

Dr. Kun Xie is an Associate Professor of Transportation Engineering at Old Dominion University and Director of the Transportation Informatics Lab. He received both his Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering (2009) and Master’s degree in Transportation Planning and Management (2012) from Tongji University, before earning his Ph.D. from NYU. His research centers on improving transportation safety using big data, AI, and simulation. Dr. Xie has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and is a globally recognized expert in traffic accident research, ranked among the top 50 scholars worldwide. He has been honored with awards such as the IEEE ITSS Best Dissertation Award and was nominated for the Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award (Rising Star) by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
Dr. Yuqing Wang 王雨晴

Dr. Yuqing Wang is an Internal Medicine resident at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, with a Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from Baylor College of Medicine. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine (2018) from Tongji University, graduating with top honors and a National Scholarship. Her research spans immunotherapy, probiotic drug delivery, and the application of AI for improving cancer communication. Dr. Wang has been widely recognized for her translational research, with multiple awards such as Teaching Star Award from Montefiore and a growing body of peer-reviewed publications focused on bridging science and patient care.
Dr. Hanxue Wei 韦寒雪

Dr. Hanxue Wei is an Industry Assistant Professor at NYU’s Center for Urban Science + Progress, specializing in urban planning, public health, and spatial data science. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning (2015) and a Master’s degree in Town and Country Planning (2018) from Tongji University, as well as a Ph.D. in Regional Science from Cornell and an M.S. in Urban Design from Georgia Tech. Dr. Wei’s research examines environmental justice, housing policy, and health disparities, with publications in top journals and leadership roles in multiple academic and professional organizations. Her interdisciplinary expertise supports evidence-based urban policy and planning.
Outstanding International Student Alumni Award

Chuan Zou 邹川
Chuan Zou is a 2019 undergraduate from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Historic Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania. At Tongji, she also minored in French and completed notable internships at the United Nations World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region and Tongji’s Original Design Studio. Her work bridges historical preservation with modern design through cross-cultural engagement.
Huiti Jiang姜卉缇

Huiti Jiang graduated from Tongji University in 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Recognized as an Outstanding Graduate, she received numerous scholarships, including the Huang Dingye Scholarship. She is now pursuing a Master in Architecture at Harvard University and had joined a collaborative studio with EMI Architects and ETH Zurich for Switzerland’s Engadin region. Her research explores the intersection of AI, culture, and environmental design. Jiang has led cross-disciplinary design workshops and participated in international studios addressing ecological and societal challenges.
Zerun Liu 刘泽润

Zerun Liu holds both undergraduate and master's degrees in Urban Planning from Tongji University, as well as a Master of Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Urban Systems at NYU. Her research focuses on the impacts of emerging transportation technologies on urban infrastructure and safety. Liu is also committed to advancing gender equity in STEM and leveraging AI to build resilient and inclusive urban transportation systems.
Liu Dai 戴浏

Liu Dai earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology from Tongji University, where he was awarded the university’s prestigious “Pursuit of Excellence Award.” He is now a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at UC San Diego, working on embodied AI and robotics under Prof. Hao Su. His undergraduate research led to a CVPR publication, and he has excelled in national innovation competitions. Dai also co-founded LunarAI to translate AI research into real-world applications.
Rui Ma ⻢瑞

Rui Ma completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Transportation Engineering at Tongji University, graduating top 2% of her class and earning several National Scholarships. She is now a Ph.D. student at NYU focusing on mass evacuation planning during emergencies involving electric vehicles. Her experience includes collaborative work with MetLife Stadium, which will host next year’s FIFA World Cup Finals, as well as the New York City Department of City Planning.
Zhangfan Xia 夏张帆

Zhangfan Xia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Tongji University, where she won several national honors in mathematical modeling. Currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Columbia University, she maintains an excellent academic record while working on maternal-infant health data analysis and previously interned at AstraZeneca China. Her future plans include advancing China’s digital healthcare system through data science and health policy, with a strong foundation in evidence-based public health practice.
Pengcheng Wang 王鹏程

Pengcheng Wang received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electronic Science and Technology from Tongji University with the Excellent Graduate Honor. As a proud alumnus, he strives to embody Tongji’s spirit of “solidarity in shared pursuits.” He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Purdue University. He has received several university and national awards and has worked at companies such as ZTE Corporation, where he contributed to the 5G revolution as an algorithm engineer. His journey reflects a strong dedication to tunrning research into impactful technological solutions.
Zhuxuanzi Wang 汪祝璇子

Zhuxuanzi Wang graduated from Tongji University in 2023 with a degree in Urban Planning, minoring in Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development. She is currently pursuing a Master of Information Systems at Cornell University, where she applies advanced technical tools to urban challenges. Her interdisciplinary research, including AI-driven solutions for financial data analysis and transportation and building performance, has led to multiple publications. Actively engaged in the Tongji alumni community, she continues to embody the spirit of resilience, solidarity, and excellence fostered by her alma mater.
Tongji Foundation Scholarship Award
Philip Regan
Philip Regan is a 9th-grade student at Universal High School and the son of Tongji alumnus Yunping Huang (Civil Engineering, Class of 1992). An academically strong and well-rounded student, Philip earned an academic award in middle school and maintains a high GPA. He is active in sports and extracurriculars, including varsity golf, USTA tennis, violin in the school orchestra, and running his own pet-sitting business since age 12. Philip was 1st place in singles and team at the USTA Spring 2024 in Orange County. Philip shows early leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong drive to grow both academically and personally.
Kevin Ji 姬三为

Kevin Ji is an 11th-grade student at Cherry Hill High School East in New Jersey and the son of Tongji alumnus Richard Ji (Pavement Structure Engineering, Class of 2001). A top-performing student, he excels in Advanced Placement and honors courses in math, science, and computer science, and is a second-place winner in the South Jersey Chess League chess tournament. He leads as president of his school’s STEM Club and is a dedicated community volunteer. Kevin aspires to study computer science at the University of Pennsylvania and pursue innovations in sustainable engineering.
Jiage Wu 邬家歌

Jiage Wu is a high school student at Robbinsville High School in New Jersey and the daughter of Tongji alumnus Deyun Wu (Mathematics, Class of 1985). She is currently a varsity basketball player, a goal she pursued passionately since third grade. Through years of dedication to sports, she has developed leadership, resilience, and focus. Jiage applies these values to academics and aims to continue growing as a disciplined, high-achieving student.
